Starville Whitening Cleanser

A brightening foam cleanser from the Egyptian brand Starville, built around ingredients used to target the look of dark spots and uneven tone, including alpha arbutin, glabridin (licorice) and kojic acid, together with vitamin C and niacinamide.

What's inside, and why

• Alpha Arbutin, Glabridin and Kojic Acid are brightening ingredients used to reduce the look of dark spots and uneven tone.
• Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid, Ascorbyl Glucoside) and Niacinamide support brightness and an even-looking tone.
• Lactic Acid and Salicylic Acid are exfoliating acids that help loosen dead skin and clear pores.
• Shea Butter, Sunflower Seed Oil, Glycerin, Panthenol, Allantoin, Aloe and Chamomile are moisturizing and soothing ingredients that balance the actives.

Good to know: a cleanser stays on your skin for under a minute before it's rinsed off, so don't expect serum-level results from it. It works best as one step in a routine. Because it contains exfoliating acids, daily sunscreen matters while you use it.

How to use

Apply on damp skin, lather, then rinse thoroughly. Start once a day and increase if your skin stays comfortable.

Before you start

For external use. Avoid the eyes. Patch test before first use, and don't use it on the same night as retinoids or other strong acids until you know how your skin reacts.
